Change is good...Always

I've taken a long hiatus from blogging. Things have been going crazy different and crazy busy for me in the past 4 months. Firstly, I've moved across the country!!! I lived in New Delhi and now live in Bangalore. It's been 3 weeks since I've been here and so far I love the place. The weather is absolutely gorgeous every day. I repeat, EVERY DAY! My sister lives here and I have moved in with her and together we paint the city red ;)

In other news, I've got a new job here and just started working this week. See I told you I was up to a lot this year! After some soul searching and a much needed sabbatical, I'm working in an industry I love and am excited to be part of again.

Packing my bags and leaving my parents, city and friends was not an easy task, but I definitely need this change in my life, personally and professionally. I'm hoping for the best to come out of this decision and honestly I can feel the positive change in me already! :)

On that note, I need to get my amo back on and get some serious blogging done. New city, new job, new me...I'm sure there's enough to inspire and conjure some great posts!

Change is scary but good...Always!

Summer in Paris!

No I'm not going to Paris for the summer. Bummer. No where close to it. I will be sweltering in the Delhi heat or if luck will have, floating in the cool fresh Bangalore breeze. Till than, here's to dreaming of a summer in Paris by ogling at these Parisian inspired heels.

Bring me some Parisian Summer love!

Back with a Bang!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack! Okay, before you swear off my blog thinking I sound like that squealy little girl from the movie 'Poltergeist', just wanted to bring in to notice that I'm back in blogging mode! :) Little blog, how I've missed you, come here you, give me a big hug! Yes, as you can see how 2 months away from blogging makes me sane :P Well sanity was surely lost as I was horribly sick (severe stomach infection) and stressed out from a killer job that the doctor prescribed a month of nothing but bed rest, soups and nimbu paani (lemonade). I have recuperated, gotten my energy back and am ready to take on the world! Without of course, food fit for a king! I'm still rocking bland, soupy, blah food for another month. Damn you slightly funny looking mangoes (and I don't even like mangoes!!!), I knew you looked evil (yup, the cause of the infection). Ne hoo, moving away from this illness rant,

I'm super happy because I bought me a lil something from a blog shop. I follow this lovely blog phdinfashion.blogspot.com and she just started a blog shop classyandfabulousshop.blogspot.com where she's selling cutesy rings, pendants and more at superb prices! She'll be adding more pieces soon so please make sure you check it out.

I bought myself a delicate wing ring. I love the subtlety of it, soft angel wings reminding me to have faith and signifying a 'flight' of freedom to do what I want. I like to have meaning to my things :) Happy to restart the blogging with a new gift for moi!

Here's what came delivered!

The quality was great and true to the pictures posted. Loved the packaging!

Thanks Classyandfabulous/FashionPh.D. Looking forward to some more goodies! :D

shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist!

I haven't gone shopping in awhile now and I'm in desperate need for retail therapy. Lately, my life has just been revolved around work. I literally have been breathing, eating, sleeping work. Late night working along with weekends spent trying to catch up on sleep, I barely have made it out of the comfort of my bed/home since the past few weeks and I'm on the verge of being borderline anti-social :( I have fallen into a trap of lethargy and the first thing that will help me snap out of it is shopping. Oh, let's not forget adding a nice tall hazelnut frappuccino with a cupcake to accompany the shopping!

There are so many things I want to shop for at the moment. I need some new work clothes, a pair of shoes, sunglasses, a better moisturizer, some sunscreen, a new camera, a belt, few rings and of course, an envelope clutch! ( my current lust have)

Heading out tomorrow for the much needed intensive therapy! :)

on that note.....

Treasure chest

I've been MIA past week because I've had one hell of a busy work week. I'd come back home to finish more work which left me no time to say hello to my little blog! I hope to be better this week. I have a few posts I've been meaning to get to, but darn the workload!

I absolutely love jewelery and am a major hoarder and collector of jewels that are antique, modern or heirloom. I've been investing and adding to my collection bit by bit. It's like hunting for treasure. Searching for precious items that are unique and exquisite. Earrings are what I've been on the lookout for. Especially bold yet wearable pieces.

My go to place is this beautiful store known as Amrapali. It has so many gorgeous exclusive pieces and such a wide range of various jewelery items, there hasn't been a single time when I've gone there and not bought at least something from there stunning collection.

In fact, its quite popular in Hollywood too. I've spotted so many celebrities often seen sporting Amrapali designs on the red carpet. Amrapali fans include Angelina Jolie, Camilla Belle, Megan Fox, Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jessica Lowndes, Demi Moore, Sofia Vergara, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Simpson.

Here's a sneak peek into my Amrapali collection!

Love Love Love!

P.S. My hands do not have some orange patterned disease. :P It's the leftover 'Mehendi' (henna) that is taking its own sweet time to wash off! :)

A festival of colors celebrated by Hindus to end the Winter season and welcome Spring with color, sweets, music, dance and festivity. The celebrations are crazy fun with beautiful bright colored powders being applied and thrown on everyone, to eating Indian sweets, meeting friends and family, dancing and singing (often intoxicated ;)

Henna-fied!

I've been super busy past week as I was out of town for my cousin's wedding. It was one week of crazy partying, dancing, eating and sleepless nights! By the end of it, I'm so tired, I think I need a vacation just to get over all that partying! On one of the celebration nights, the 'mehendi' (henna) ceremony took place. Basically the bride and all the girls apply henna to their hands in beautiful intricate patterns. The bride's 'mehendi' is the most beautiful and most time consuming, taking almost close to 3 to 4 hrs as her hands and feet are decorated with this gorgeous orange color. Meanwhile, we sisters, cousins, friends, mothers and aunts get together and sing songs, dance and get our henna applied too. Here's a few pics of me getting henna-fied!

Temporary tattoos eh? :)

Mini me

How cute are these mini kholapuris?(Indian footwear)

A girl at work got these from a journalist. I kept ogling and pouting at them wishing I could've received them. Well, all that glancing helped. She said "here, you can have these for your new desk"! (I just starting working last week) and I happily snapped them up! :)

I find them so adorable :)

Lipper-sonality

Saw this on another blog and found it quite fun. Thought I'd share it here as well. I checked out my used lipsticks and found them to fall in the 'slant keeps close to original tip shape'. However, I haven't colored my hair to attract attention. For that matter, I have never even once colored my hair :p Other than that, I guess I did reflect my lipstick shape personality.

What's your lipstick personality?

A cake in a cup; CUPCAKE

I was having a major cupcake craving at 11 pm yesterday. I needed an instant sweet gratification, and resorted to making myself a chocolate cake in 5 minutes. Yes, 5 minutes!....in the microwave....Instant!

I was so busy indulging in the chocolaty goodness I forgot to take a picture. I found one that looked pretty similar to what I made. The only difference, I didn't add any fruit. If I have to sin, might as well go the whole jingbang! Oh, and before you scold me for eating 5000 calories after 7 pm.... I worked out for 2 hrs today! :D

Ingredients:

2 tbsp baking cocoa
4 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
1 Egg
3 tbsp Oil
3 tbsp Sugar
3 tbsp Milk
½ tsp Vanilla Extract
1 scoop Vanilla Ice Cream *optional

In a large microwavable coffee cup/mug, add all the dry ingredients into it – the flour, the cocoa and the sugar

To this add mixture add the egg and whisk completely; keep checking for lumps

Now, add in the milk, oil, and the vanilla extract and mix it thoroughly

Place this cup in the microwave and bake for 3 minutes

When the cake rises to the top, remove the cup and allow to cool a little

Dig in straight or tip onto plate and enjoy. If you want, you can add fresh fruit, or some whipped cream, a dollop of vanilla ice cream or some chocolate syrup

The wedding bells toll!

Next week I'll be heading out of the city towards Punjab for my cousin brother's wedding. Past few weeks, my mom, sister and I, have been scrounging markets to find the perfect clothes, jewelery and accessories for this wedding extravaganza. I'm still getting my clothes made and this weekend we went and bought a bit of jewelery. Posted below are some trinkets I purchased. The jewelery pictured below is muted gold with pale pink precious stones. It's imitation "kundaan" work. The "real" kundaan, gold or diamond jewelery I plan to wear, is safely tucked into my mom's little jewel case which I haven't had access to yet ;P

The earrings, necklace and "maang tikka" (worn on the forehead)

Indian weddings are lavish and glamorous. The clothes, jewelery, makeup, the people, the food, the usual 5 to 6 ceremonies, the decor, everything is a celebration. I'm pretty excited about my cousin's wedding, we haven't had a close relative getting married since long, so we're all waiting with bated breath to celebrate with such fervor and gusto!!! :D Yay! just a week left to dance, dress up and hog my week away!

What do you think of the jewelry I bought? I'll try doing some posts on what I'll be wearing or had worn once I'm back. I still have to go hunting for shoes, a clutch and other accessories. Geez, the way I'm going about it, someone might think it's my wedding!!! yikes! :)
