The wedding bells toll!

Next week I'll be heading out of the city towards Punjab for my cousin brother's wedding. Past few weeks, my mom, sister and I, have been scrounging markets to find the perfect clothes, jewelery and accessories for this wedding extravaganza. I'm still getting my clothes made and this weekend we went and bought a bit of jewelery. Posted below are some trinkets I purchased. The jewelery pictured below is muted gold with pale pink precious stones. It's imitation "kundaan" work. The "real" kundaan, gold or diamond jewelery I plan to wear, is safely tucked into my mom's little jewel case which I haven't had access to yet ;P

The earrings, necklace and "maang tikka" (worn on the forehead)

Indian weddings are lavish and glamorous. The clothes, jewelery, makeup, the people, the food, the usual 5 to 6 ceremonies, the decor, everything is a celebration. I'm pretty excited about my cousin's wedding, we haven't had a close relative getting married since long, so we're all waiting with bated breath to celebrate with such fervor and gusto!!! :D Yay! just a week left to dance, dress up and hog my week away!

What do you think of the jewelry I bought? I'll try doing some posts on what I'll be wearing or had worn once I'm back. I still have to go hunting for shoes, a clutch and other accessories. Geez, the way I'm going about it, someone might think it's my wedding!!! yikes! :)

Hello. We meet again!

While cruising through the aisles of various drugstore brands at the mall the other day, I parked myself at the Bourjois counter, a makeup brand which I have always liked, but feel it never gets the lovin it should be getting. Bourjois has some great makeup products which I feel we or I often tend to overlook. Their eyeliners are amazing! Super pigmented with beautiful colors. The blushes have gorgeous shades though they can get a bit dry after a month or two, fabulous new eye shadows and they have excellent foundations and mineral powders( Healthy mix range). I was happy to reunite with this brand and buy some products.

My loot..... (I know, I NEED to get my camera fixed/buy)

From the top: Violet Artiste, Bleu suprenant, Gris Ingenieux and Noir Bluete
Side swatch- Rose Frisson

Bourjois Khol & Contour Eyeliner Pencil

I bought Bleu Suprenant-3rd from the left, Violet Artiste- 4th from the left, Gris Ingenieux- not pictured above). Blue Suprenant is a wonderful purple blue color and is quite pigmented. The Violet Artiste is a plum shade and Gris Ingenieux is a dark smokey gray perfect for a smokey eye look.

Bourjois Rose Frisson

A beautiful rosy pink with a very subtle hint of barley there gold shimmer. It's perfect for everyday as the shimmer is not noticeable and leaves a soft glow. It gives a soft, pretty flush to the cheeks! It's got a pleasant rose, baby powdery fragrance which I didn't mind at all.

Bourjois Duochrome Eyeliner

Noir Bleuté (3rd from the left). A deep dark gorgeous navy blue black. Quite similar to one of my favorite blue navy eyeliners- the Mac Blooz eyeliner pencil. The Bourjois one has a wonderful satiny sheen to it, which is theduochrome effect. I absolutely love this shade and have found my favorite navy color! :)

Do you enjoy Bourjois products? Which products do you recommend?. I'd love to try out some more of their products.

Hair TLC

I have long hair. I had loooooooong hair. It was down to my waist, but last month I cut about four inches off as I was tired of all the poking. Split ends...yikes! It's still pretty long and now with the dry needle pokey bits gone, my hair is so much more healthier.

I'm super particular about hair care. I always have been, but over the past 2 to 3 years I've been taking extra care as I noticed a drastic change in the texture of my hair when I was studying in Australia. I came back to India and again my hair texture went for a toss. It must be due to the difference in water, climate, eating habits, study and work stress. Plus as a student, I know I didn't maintain my hair care routine the way I should have. I was left with dry, parched and lifeless hair. My hair was screaming for some lovin' so now I drink more water, added cod liver oil to my diet (oh my god! Nasty to taste, but super shiny hair and glowy skin. You MUST try it!) and have started using products to help it.

My hair care routine now consists of weekly oil massages and getting monthly deep conditioning hair spas as well as buying superior hair care products suited for my hair and boy, have I noticed such a BIG difference!

I wanted to share a few of hair products I recently bought. I don't use a lot of products in my hair on a daily basis but when I blow dry or straighten my hair once or max twice a month, I ensure I use products to protect and prevent hair damage.

Here's my current hair stash...

The Body Shop FSC hair brush- firm yet soft bristles which don't pull on hair. Great for thick hair types

TRESemme No Frizz Shine Spray- light and doesn't weigh your hair down. It leaves my hair soft and shiny. It's one of the best shine sprays I've used so far!

Schwarzkopf leave in shine treatment- I'm sure it's more of a marketing gimmick, but this product easies the frizz and gives a shimmery sheen to my hair. Reason to buy: it has tiny glittery gold flecks which shine and reflect in your hair. I couldn't resist!
TRESemme Heat Tamer Protectant Spray- can't recommend this product enough. It's light, really protects, gives a nice shine and smells pretty. It made my hair super super super soft. Definite MUST buy!

Aussie 3 minute miracle Sydney Smooth- Amazing would be one word to describe this product. It's a deep conditioner sent by heaven. It reconstructs and repairs damaged dry hair so well, I believe that my hair has probably gotten better because of this product solely! :) And I absolutely love the way it smells...fruity and delicious. For finer hair I would say use sparingly. Since I have really thick hair, I take a dive into it!

If there's one product you which could help you turn into the next Victoria's Secret model?...grab this! (well, at least the hair part will be covered ;)

Toni&Guy Moisture Injection curl relaxant- I specifically uses this once in a while
when I have to straighten my hair. I have fairly straight hair but when I want them super sleek straight I use a tiny dab of this on damp hair. It helps in relaxing waves and curls ensuring sleeker, straighter hair

Boots Essential Styling Mousse- haven't used this yet as I rarely use mousse. Thought I'd give it a try to see how well it works! It has heat protection an extra conditioning.

Have you tried any of these products. What are some of your favorite worth recommending? know any nice hair care tips? Would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!

Cupcake of the week! (COTW)

To say that I love cupcakes would be an understatement. I breathe, live cupcakes...or would like to do so. I spend many hours online just looking at various cupcakes, designs, themes, flavors, recipes and images (am I weird?). I usually save the pictures of the ones I like in a folder on my desktop where I sneak a peak every now and then. (confirmed. I am weird) So to honor my love for pretty cupcakes, I thought I'd showcase a cupcake of the week (COTW) every Friday! :) what say?

Keeping in theme with this weekend, this COTW is:

AMAZING Valentines Day Cupcake Bouquet

Wooed by Woo!

I first noticed this delicate, simple yet beautiful piece of jewelery in the Gossip Girl episode titled 'Never Been Marcused', where Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), wore the famous "BW" initial necklace by designer Alex Woo. I then went online and looked up this wonderful jewelery designer and fell in love with every gorgeous, sophisticated and absolutely charming jewelry item in her Little Icons Collection. I've seen 'Blair' wear so many of her cute pieces throughout the show and have seen various celebrities sporting her collection too.

The one below is what started my love for Alex Woo's line.

Just wanted to show you some of her remarkable designs. S0 sleek, contemporary and cute!
